Spiritual Law, Sex, and Relationships: No Negative Karma Incurred With These 7 Things

Along the path of your spiritual journey, you've undoubtedly asked yourself, "What about karma? Which actions won't make me gain bad karma, and which ones will, despite the dictates of society?"

Through over 25 years of related empirical research, we conclude that the only way you can gain negative karma is if you intentionally hurt yourself or anyone else.

While we believe it’s important to adhere to laws and regulations, the fact that morality is usually prejudiced can’t be ignored. One person’s “right and wrong” is another person's “wrong and right.”

Below we list seven things that are shunned and even persecuted in many societies, but our findings clearly show that you gain absolutely no bad karma related to these actions. In other words, you won’t have to incarnate into a miserable existence to balance wrong-doing.

1. Cohabitation. That’s right, a legally-binding agreement (marriage), from the standpoint of karma, is unnecessary to shack up together. It’s your life. If you want to live together while not being married, it’s your decision and you won’t be sent to hell for doing so.

2. Having kids out of wedlock. It’s not the Middle Ages any longer. Does anyone truly believe that two responsible parents who decide not to marry, yet provide for and give their kids as much or more love as married couples are doing their kids or anyone else a disservice? A marriage certificate does nothing for the well-being of children.

3. Homosexuality. It’s amazing that sexual orientation is still sometimes referred to as a “preference” or “choice.” Despite slanted interpretations of religious texts, homosexuality won’t send you straight to purgatory, and it certainly won’t make you gain negative karma.

4. Prostitution between two consenting adults. Even if the sex worker has sex with thousands of people, isn’t that unprincipled conduct? No, it isn’t. There is nothing wrong with the act of sex, as long as you’re not thieving or hurting anyone. It’s even possible for a prostitute to gain positive karma through sex, depending on his or her talents in bed. After all, sex is healing. Sex between two consenting adults, even if one (or both) is getting paid, is no one’s business but theirs, just as with matrimonial prostitution.

Contrary to long-standing tradition, sex is not a religiously sanctioned act. It’s a personal thing between two (or more) people. Unfortunately, widespread sanctimoniousness arising from fraudulent religiosity has spawned many absurd laws relating to sex and intimate relationships. Amusingly, the zealots who force their distorted virtues onto others through personal freedom-robbing laws incur negative karma.

5. Swinging. Having an open marriage or relationship, even if you have dozens of romantic partners, won’t make you gain negative karma. As long as everyone is in agreement, you are honest about it to all involved, haven’t made any false promises, and don’t intentionally hurt anyone, you avoid picking up bad karma. It goes without saying that acting responsibly, including having safe sex, is necessary to avoid karmic complications.

6. Breaking up with your lover. If the relationship is over for you, the best thing you can do for all involved is to leave peacefully. Alternatively, if you remain in a relationship that is finished for you, you may be incurring negative karma since you are not freeing the other person to find a more compatible person.

7. Divorcing your spouse. Even though you vowed to be together forever, it’s irrefutable that feelings and people can and do change. As long as you depart respectfully, compassionately, and honorably, you’re free of negative karma. Interestingly, an ex who vindictively refuses the divorce and creates challenges for the partner who wants out incurs negative karma.

It’s advisable to avoid unlawful conduct, but you can free yourself of any false guilt by living your life in harmony with the law of karma rather than the constricting rules of the biased morality gang.
